AWOS is a free, open-source, fast, highly optimized operating environment. Care is taken to ensure that it can run on very old hardware, yet still allow it to take advantage of the newest platforms. It already has a minimalistic libc that can be compiled against. The syscall interface, to allow user-mode applications to run, is actively being developed.
